Small box for light bulb set

This week’s assignment is to make an enclosed. The processes are kind of simple because I had already done the laser cuter last week. I forgot to take many pictures because I am kind of familiar with the steps. I think the most difficult part is to calculate the size for each part of the box and make sure it is matched to each other. First, I sketched down the idea,

Then, I measure all the items I need to put in the enclosure. The light bulb, the battery, and the switch. And calculated the length for each part. I drew it on Illustration.

I used cardboard to do the test print, and found out the switch part is too small and the light bulb part is too big. I made some adjustment and print again. I used another cardboard to print and tried to put them together to see the final.

It looks good and I started to cut the final on the wood by using the laser cutter. Then I got the size problem, it was not fit. But fortunately, the light bulb part and switch part fits very well.  I used the wood glue to glue them and tape to temporary made them together and also make it stable. There are some parts are not fit. I will either use the machine to shave it or just leave it like that.

I changed my design a little bit. I was trying to make the bottom part can remove, I can change battery there. Then I saw the side part may be better, it will be more convenient to change the wires and the light bulb, and when the wires are not in good connection, I can make some adjustments there.

The enclosure covers the mess wires which look better than before. It can also become a small flashlight. The photo shows tapes because the glue is not dry yet.
