Hey, this is the first week!

 

How do I think about computation?

    I think computation is a way to better interact with the computer. Many creative ideas are now mostly needed to show on the computer. Computation is a method to tell the computer what you need. My interest is to combine food cooking and film together. It needs to present the idea through the computer and control it by the coding. To know computation is like knowing a language to communicate with the computer. In this semester, I think it will be a plan for this semester to make a coding that shows our own style.

    The project I have done to combine the idea of food and film is called The Taste of Film. Taste and smell are the important senses of our body. Watching films is using the senses of vision and listening. They are two of the most immersive senses. With the development of modern science and technology, some sense of touch has also been added to the film. So I wonder if one day the sense of smell and taste can be added, will the film be more understandable and make the audience feel immersed in it? In order to achieve this goal, I have to know something about computer programming so that I can better show my ideas.

My First-time Experience on P5

    This week is my first time to use P5 to draw. It is pretty fun. It is the first time I feel the importance of math. I do not really like math before because I think it is hard and not useful.  When I am using the p5 for coding, the only problem I have is I need to check on the reference every time when I type in the code. It probably because I am not familiar with the code, I may feel better when I practice more. 

When I am doing this assignment, I am eating a bowl of noddles with a cup of tea. So I decided to draw them for my first assignment. But when I start coding, I realized it is too hard for me to draw both of them. I picked the bowl of noddles with chopsticks as my subject of this assignment. During my drawing, I felt it is so hard to draw the shape of noodles and I could not draw the chopsticks in a right direction but I accidentally drew the straw out, it made me want to give up the bowl and tried to add something to make it as a cup of tea. I drew the handle of the cup and the bottom plate of the cup.        Then I felt I should add a lemon on to make it looks more like a cup of tea. But inside of the lemon made me crazy and I accidentally fix the direction of the chopsticks. I became so confused about what I should do for the next step. My drawing can be identified as a cup of a bowl, I did not decide what it should be yet. 

     This experience makes me realized that different people have different feelings about art. You can think my work is a cup, a bowl, or neither of them It depends on the experience you have.
